Netherlands August 2014 (Updated)

Roller Coaster Edition II

After a sales peak in April (2.256 units), the Dutch EV market continues to go down, in August there were only 984 sales, the worst month since January, dragging down the EV Share to 4,46%.

Looking at the models ranking, despite their weak sales performance, the Outlender PHEV and Volvo V60 Plug-In are still miles ahead of the competition, with the VW e-Up! weaker than usual, losing ground for the Tesla Model S, BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf.

A final note for the Ampera (Yes, it's still alive), selling 21 units this month, its best month of the year, pulling it back to #11. Opel's twin brother, the Chevrolet Volt, also had its best sales month of the year (6 sales), giving credit to some form of stock clearance in GM's home.

  1. Some of the estimated figures seem to be quite off (Outlander is actually 494 units), check here for the cumulative and diff from previous month:

  2. Hi Jose,

I think the decline can be explained by the anticipated arrival of the Golf GTE. Many shoppers for an affordable phev will shun the plump and ugly Outlander in favour of the GTE.

The second point I'd like to bring to your attention once more are your way too high figures for the e-Up. If you look at the page that Mario linked to, the e-Up should be in 3rd or even 2nd place. But it is not there. I suggest you check your source.
